Buy-one-get-one everything? Big time DJs playing in small-time spaces? A cashless ecosystem? Only means one thing: PayMaya is in town!
But if blaring music and flashing lights ain’t your thing, there are ways for you to avoid all the madness. Here is the Girl On TV-approved to-do list until Labor Day in La Union
1. Go resto hopping
If it’s your first time in surf town and you’re clueless where to eat – don’t worry – we gotchu. GNWPTSVD (aka The Great Northwest) has an array of food hubs. We reco Makai Bowls for healthy options that aren’t salad, El Union Coffee who’ll give the coffee giants a run for their money, we thinks, or Coffee Library if you need a relaxing ambiance to sip your cup of joe. The absolutely charming Choka is a must-visit (spam hello?); oh and the pizza at Surf Shack are to die for as well. Don’t skimp on the wide selection of grub at The Food Project, one of the popular food hubs in San Juan.
2. Quench your Happy Hour thirst
What’s a La Union trip without happy hour? Ol’ Pub Restobar has local beers and their famous cocktails to offer like The High Octane which will send you to your happy place quickly. Le Point Bar’s happy hour starts at 3pm so expect to get served inexpensive beers and cocktails. Or you can get one extra beer for every bucket of 5 at Drinks Ahoy! located at Beach Bum Food Park.
3. Let the local tricycle drivers take you anywhere
No ride, no problem! Just hop in on the PayMaya trike at Flotsam and Jetsam and get a free ride to anywhere in surf town. ? #LaUnionLovesPayMaya #OwnYourSummer pic.twitter.com/Z4E1V9eWWS

Another good thing about San Juan is that you can easily get from point A to point B. If you’re staying over at Flotsam and Jetsam and want to get around town, there are sponsored tricycles available there that will take you anywhere in the area. You can ride them for free if you’re fast enough to catch their promo that will last until May 1 so anticipate that!
4. Try the famous 5-minute drink at Flotsam and Jetsam
If you haven’t heard, Flotsam and Jetsam is the most popular hostel in the area. It’s the chillest hang-out place where you can just lounge around and drink with the squad. Oh and you can’t possibly pass up the chance to try their famous “5-minute drink” too so put this in your itinerary.
5. Ride the waves
You can’t possibly leave La Union without surfing. If you’re a newbie or you’ve never dared to try, you can take surfing lessons and ride the waves at LA Union Surf Club Inc. There are a lot of other surf schools scattered around the area that offer affordable lessons so take the opportunity to rent and hop on a surfboard.
The best thing about all of these is that you don’t need cash on hand all the time because PayMaya lets you enjoy your summer through cashless transactions. Just scan to pay and voila! Discounts. There are more sweet deals and promos in store for you so get hyped!
