Only 5 days to go before Miss Universe 2017, and it looks like our very own Rachel Peters, has a strong chance! And just in case you haven’t voted for her yet, dear kababayan, here are 5 more reasons why you should. NOW:
5. This is now the Philippines’ longest placement streak!

The Philippines has been making the first cut in this pageant since 2010 (thank you, Venus Raj!). At 7 years, this is the longest streak achieved by any country in this decade, and 4th longest of all time, behind only USA (1977-1998, 22 years), Venezuela (1984-2003, 21 years), and India (1992-2002, 11 years). So, why kill a good thing now?
4. She is proof that Perseverance is king, or Queen, rather.

Just like Janine Tugonon, MJ Lastimosa, and Pia Wurtzbach before her, Rachel had to experience defeat at least once before being chosen to represent the country. A fumbling Q&A relegated her to fifth place in Miss World Philippines 2014. Three years later, a more confident Rachel aced her interview in Bb. Pilipinas and that’s what sealed her victory! How’s that for a 180? Just imagine what she can bring to the international stage now.
3. Her onstage performances were golden – literally and figuratively.

She dazzled in Swarovski evening gown designed by Val Taguba and was sexy as a Sarimanok-with-a-Twist in national costume (Those legs!). And, while it doesn’t exactly adhere to the established color scheme, she was really hot in her black Yamamay preliminary swimsuit. The crowd’s reaction says it all.
2. She has high-profile supporters.

Among them, some familiar names including Maine Mendoza, Bianca Gonzalez, and Vice Ganda, just to name a few. If that doesn’t amplify your fighting spirit, we don’t know what will!
1. Why, even Queen Pia thinks she has a shot!
