Shop ‘Til You Drop at these Bangkok Shopping Spots

By  - 5 years ago

So we’ll just throw it out there: Bangkok is one of the best shopping cities in the world. One doesn’t simply go to Thailand and not go on a retail splurge in the city. There’s a lot of cheap and affordable goods in Bangkok alone so if you’re looking to spend money, Bangkok is a must-visit.

From malls to flea markets, this Southeast Asian city is a hub of great finds. But the golden rule of thumb when shopping in Bangkok is to bargain and bargain hard.

For those of you who haven’t experienced shopping in Thailand, here’s a quick list of the must-shop places in Bangkok:

5. Chatuchak Weekend Market

If you’re a first-timer, know this: this place is HUGE. You’ll need time, patience, and endurance if you want to go around this 35-acre market. You’ll find literally almost everything here—souvenirs, clothes, produce and food, handicraft, and everything in between.

Make sure to equip yourself with a map if you’re bent on checking over 8,000 stalls and braving the slew of people there but we promise you won’t get out of there disappointed and empty-handed.

4. Pantip Plaza

If you’re looking for gadgets and electronics, this is your one-stop shop. Hardware, phones, laptops, cables, you name it, it’s got it. It’s an IT mall after all so this is where everyone goes for their techie needs.

The place is huge as well so prepare to be dizzy and overwhelmed with all the options. If you’re an iPhone user, there’s an iStudio on the 3rd floor for your Apply needs.

3. MBK

If you’re looking for designer and popular brands, this isn’t where you go. This mall is filled with independent and local stores, most of them haggle-friendly. Everything is affordable and of good quality so if you’re not particularly brand-conscious, this is virtually Disneyland for you.

2. Terminal 21

This mall is fun because each floor is a different city theme. It’s known to house both international and local brands alike so it’s a fashionista’s haven. On top of that, foodies flock here for its gigantic food court. Their offerings aren’t limited—from Pad Thai to baby back ribs, you can select whichever cuisine suits your cravings.

Platinum is the favorite and go-to shopping spot of tourists and for good reason. It’s known to sell wholesale fashionable clothes and accessories from Asian designers. The range of styles is wide AF so it’s for everyone, not just for girls.
