FIRST LOOK: These velvety-soft matte lipsticks look good on Filipina skin tones

By  - 6 years ago

If you’re as lipstick-obsessed as us, Colourette Cosmetics would be no stranger to you. This locally famous makeup brand doles out product after product — from cream blushes, to dual-tints, to an array of lipsticks that will put you in a doozy.

But for their 3rd birthday, they’re giving us a present we’ll always go back to. The Velvetints are velvety-soft matte lipsticks that are meant to be ultra lightweight and comfortable on your lips. Quite a claim for a product that only retails for PHP299 a piece!

In typical Colourette fashion, these were formulated to be multi-use as well as flatter many Filipina skin tones. Supposedly, you could also don this on your eyes and cheeks with a little blending.

Read on to see if these are as good as they make it out to be!

The Shade Range

We look for a few things when considering an everyday lipstick. It has to dry down matte, flatter any outfit and makeup look, and most of all, be comfortable. Luckily, this formula hits all those mandatories, so I think we’re looking at a new staple!

For now, it comes in 3 everyday colours: Rosé, Birthday Cake, and RSVP.

We had 3 girls of different skin tones from The Girl on TV team test them out.

Rosé — a muted, warm pink

Birthday Cake — a rich brown

RSVP — a muted, everyday red

Cheek Tint Test

Don’t believe what the internet says — not all lipsticks are meant to be multi-use. Some formulas are just too matte and stiff to be able to blend out as a blush, no matter how good they look on your lips.

For this test, we only applied 3 dots before we blended it out. We quickly learned that a little goes a long way, so make sure to start small if you’re not going for a drunk blush look.

Eyeshadow Test

Much like the cheek tint test, we started off with 3 dots before blending in with our fingers. We found that you can build up the color by dabbing more on once your initial blend has dried.

Word of caution though — try to work quickly, because the longer you wait to blend it out, the harder it gets. Other than that, this product does dry down to a powdery matte, so there’s no longer a need to set the eye, which is a plus!

Final Thoughts

For P299 pesos a pop, this product is practically a steal. It’s exactly how it is described — ultra-comfortable and velvety-soft. Our only complaint is that we wish it came in even more colors for even more occasions!

You can cop this product on Lazada for PHP897 for the Birthday Box with all 3 lipsticks, or individually for PHP299.
