Being kind to others makes you a happier person, or at least that’s what my grandmother used to tell me. We’ve listed down 11 random acts of kindness that you can do everyday— and while these might not be enough to save the world, they’re sure to brighten someone’s day.
11. Hold the elevator door for someone.
The next time you see someone in a rush, hold the elevator door and wait for them to get inside. They’ll appreciate you for those extra five seconds.
10. Listen without interrupting.
Isn’t it nice to sit down and listen—not to reply but to understand?
9. Give a compliment. And mean it.
Giving (and thinking of a) sincere compliment doesn’t require rocket science. It can be as simple as praising someone for their parking skills or admiring a friend’s new hair color.
8. Offer a ride.
Offer a friend or an officemate a ride home. Carpooling is good for the environment, too.
7. Call your parents.
“Hey mom, hey dad. It’s been a while.”
6. Bring food to the office.
Brighten up the office with a basket of brownies or a tray of tacos. You’ll officially be everyone’s favorite colleague of the day, too.
5. Buy someone a gift. Just because.
It’s always the little things that count.
4. Write on sticky notes!
Pull an Emma Watson and hide secret notes in books and cafes, or on window shields and desk tables.
3. Offer to take a group’s photo.
When you walk across a group struggling to take a ‘selfe’ (or a ‘groupie’, for that matter), stop and offer to take their photo.
2. Leave a generous tip.
Dining in a restaurant? Surprise your sever with a hefty tip.
1. Go straw-less.
We’re sure you can go on drinking that bottle of Sola without sans a straw. Let’s be kind to Mother Nature, yes?
