Riri’s Baddest Red Carpet Looks Through the Years

By  - 2 years ago

It’s the bad gal’s birthday! We know she serves looks all the time especially on the red carpet so to celebrate our Barbadian queen’s 30th birthday, we take a look at Riri’s fashion evolution and remember the stand-out moments that made her into the style icon that she is now.

Don’t act like you forgot about one of her first red carpet looks! Though playing it safe at first, this fresh-faced 17-year-old caught everyone’s attention with her radiant smile and cute dress at the 3rd Annual Vibe Awards.

S.O.S. someone killed it at the 2006 Billboard Music Awards! She shed off her sweet prom queen image she had last year by wearing this revealing white Zac Posen dress.

The glow up is evident when she showed up at the 2007 Grammys in an elegant Roberto Cavalli gown and a brand new do! The shorter, darker hair definitely marked the beginning of her transition to an edgier image.

She dared to be different the following year when she donned a Dolce & Gabbana suit with puffy sleeves to the 2008 Met Gala, letting the fashion industry know that she can rock more than dresses.

Sporting a bold new haircut, Rihanna didn’t come to play at the 2009 AMAs in a monochrome Marchesa laser-cut gown.

She may be bad but she’s perfectly good at it: a red-haired Rihanna wore a very sheer Elie Saab gown that perfectly hugged her to-die-for figure at the 2010 American Music Awards.

Hot couture! She leaves almost nothing to the imagination at the 2011 Grammys in a Jean Paul Gaultier ruffled translucent gown which she got straight off the runway. She also took home a Grammy that night by the way, no biggie.

She’s back the following year but this time in a sexy but classy custom Giorgio Armani low-cut dress. The slit could go on for miles but Riri keeps it tasteful as always.

Another Gaultier look Rihanna totally owned was this two-piece outfit that featured a bustier top and a lacy skirt she wore at the 2013 AMAs. Chains and whips should’ve been her accessory to complement this fierce look.

A bonus from the same year – Ri arrived at the 55th Grammys in a custom Azzedine Alaia dress with a crisscrossing wrap detail. Fun fact: she was also one of the first to wear the 2013 spring collection from the legendary designer.

She definitely shone bright like a diamond when she decided to #freethenipple at the 2014 CFDAs. The see-through Adam Selman dress made up of Swarovski crystals got everyone buzzing but hey, she took home the Fashion Icon Award that night.

She literally took over the entire red carpet at the 2015 Met Gala with her elaborate yellow Guo Pei ensemble. Her long embroidered train trailed behind her elegantly and to top it all off, she wore a gold crown-like headpiece to let everyone know that she is the queen.

Rihanna served a softer look at the 2016 Brit Awards with a lilac Armani Prive dress with a low-plunging neckline. The dress beautifully accentuated her curves – we love a thick queen.

She really knows how to work, work, work, work it at any event in any outfit. This avant-garde Comme des Garçons floral piece took her over an hour to get into and she still rocked it like a true fashion legend.

She may have skipped the red carpet but Rihanna still owned the 2018 Grammys by accepting an award wearing an off-shoulder couture trench coat by Alexandre Vauthier. It’s only the start of the year and Riri’s already slaying!
