5 Things the #FeelCamiguin Video Got Right

By  - 2 years ago

The Camiguin Tourism Office released its “No Words” campaign, and it got people talking. Not your usual travel or tourism video, the four-minute clip features the best of the island with a humorous storyline and captivating script. Here are five reasons why it’s worth the look.

5. The Relatable Protagonist

The main character of the video is not the typical face you see fronting campaign videos, yet her colorful and relatable personality is what makes her interesting. It allowed viewers to see parts of themselves in her, proving that the casting decision to not include stereotypical models worked.

4. It Did Justice When It Showcased the Beauty of the Island

We were left in awe by how exceptional they highlighted the island’s most photogenic spots using great cinematography. Seeing the clear blues and greens of Mantigue Island, Tuasan Falls, and Mt. Hibok-Hibok Ardent Hot Spring; the pastel sunset behind the Sunken Cemetery; and the vibrant colors of its marine life will give you a serious case of wanderlust.

3. It Inspires You to Face the Fear of the Unknown

As with anyone who’s travelling to an unfamiliar place, she too thought the trip was a complete waste being stuck alone in what she thought was a small and dull place. Yet the video teaches us that there are unexpected joys in immersing ourselves in the local culture and discovering everything alone.

2. Learning to Go with the Flow Isn’t So Bad After All

They say the best moments happen when they are unplanned. Although initially faced with the dilemma of being left behind by her friend, she realized that this shouldn’t stop her from having a memorable time.

1. Injecting Humor Into Travel Is What Set It Apart

Most travel videos are accompanied by catchy pop songs and impressive editing skills. We can’t deny how effective this formula is, but it’s different for this one. No Words, no pop songs, no famous endorsers, the video simply relied on the beauty of Camiguin and some punchlines to capture its viewers’ attention.
